Why Age Doesn’t Matter in Success (with Evan Stewart)

Evan Stewart has come a long way in becoming a successful entrepreneur and real estate agent. He’s responsible for tens of millions in closed sales annually for one of the most top-producing real estate groups in North Texas. Did we forget to mention he’s only 25 years old at the time of writing this? Here, Evan discusses how it’s like being a young entrepreneur and how to make the most with the time you have.

It’s all about taking the initiative

Being young and out in the world, it can be difficult to find direction in your life especially when it comes to your need for earning money. Start small. Try reselling stuff. Do odd jobs like the good old classic of mowing someone’s lawn. No one’s expecting you to start making hundreds or thousands on the get-go, nor should you feel obligated to. What matters is you that started making money. After all, a job is better than having no job. However, keep in mind it shouldn’t be just any job. Go for something you know fits your strengths.

Figure out your strengths

What are you good at? Because there’s a guaranteed chance there’s someone out there willing to pay you $250-500 just for you to do that something for them. Not everyone is good at everything, that’s why jobs exist. Always remember: If you’re good at something, never do it for free. All you need is to take the initiative and show your potential clients you’re the best fit for the job.

Make up for your lack of experience with results

It’s no surprise to us when we hear about clients not accepting young but willing applicants just because of applicants being young. To be fair, they can’t really trust someone who has little to no experience with their investments. Don’t take it personally; after all, they don’t know you. So what can you do about that? Again, take the initiative and figure out your strengths. Take the initiative to learn new things that can help further improve your strengths. Build up your reputation, your resume, your portfolio, anything that can tell them “I may be young, but I can do the job right.”

There’s always room for improvement, and being young gives you an edge in that

A lot of young people would get too caught up in doing everything right the first time. Sure, that could impress a lot of potential clients… but what would that do for you? It’s important that at such a young age you shouldn’t be afraid to experiment with what you can do, with the mindset of learning from any hiccups along the way. Build on your successes rather than treat them as your upper limits. Always strive to get more out of the time you spend doing your thing.

There was a lot discussed during the podcast about Evan’s background. Hear about more ways you can strive for success in their episode here.
